Their main precept of their ethical behavior is “Do good and avoid harm” that is why the pharmacist and the technologists have to fulfill the ethics of the profession. This means to protect the health of the community against the incompetent, unethical or illegal practice of any person. The code of conduct contains the principles that guide the pharmaceutical staff in the performance of their profession because the pharmacist is legally and professionally responsible for the control of all drugs in the pharmacy.

Actividad 1

Analice los diferentes textos vinculados al Perfil Servicios Farmacéuticos.

a. Clasifíquelos según su forma. Debata en su equipo si son adecuados o no para los estudiantes de primer año del Perfil Servicios Farmacéuticos.
b. Explique las razones para su selección o no selección.

Tipo 1.

Ephedrine.

Ephedrine is a drug that acts on the sympathetic nervous system. Used to relieve bronchospasm in asthma. It appears in some cold remedies as a decongestant. Side effects include rapid heartbeat, dry mouth, and anxiety. Ephedrine is an alkaloid, C10H15NO, derived from Asian gymnosperms (genus Ephedra). Ephedra is a Powerful stimulant such as amphetamines. Stimulants cause a temporary increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Its use is not clear in athletic performance. People also use it as a weight-loss drug.

Tipo 2.

Physician Vincent, E. (1972) the author of the “Ask the Doctor” series of medical books for laypersons, answers a wide variety of questions about illnesses and their treatments. He emphasizes on cancer and medications commonly. He discusses about drugs and risks of the disease.
Some investigations suggest that aspirin can play a protective role in certain cancers. A study of 635,031 men and women suggested that the risk of dying from cancer of the colon, stomach, esophagus, and rectum was 40% lower among people who took aspirin a minimum of 16 times a month for a year when these results were compared with people who did not use aspirin. Scientists suspect that aspirin interferes with the synthesis of prostaglandins that help the growth of certain tumors.

Tipo 3.

Drugs can have different classifications: by the way of dispensation they are over the counter or by prescription; by the substance from which they derive: plant, mineral, or animal; by the form they take: capsule, liquid, or gas; and by the way they are administered: by mouth, injection, inhalation, or direct application to the skin. There is another classification: by their names. All drugs have three names: (1) a chemical name (the description of the exact structure of the drug; (2) a generic or proprietary name, which is the official medical name, and (3) a trade (commercial) name.

Another way to categorize drugs is by the way they act against diseases: chemotherapeutic drugs attack specific organisms that cause a disease without harming the host, while pharmocodynamic drugs alter the function of body systems by stimulating or depressing normal cell activity in a given system. The most common way to categorize a drug is by its effect on a particular area of the body or a particular condition.
